Site is temporarily not available while forum index is being rebuilt… sorry for the inconvenience and lack of advanced notice. This may take 45 minutes…
The reason we need to rebuild index is because we want to allow 3 letter word search, now that we are on a more powerful box.

The site seems to be down, again. Several of us are getting page load errors, unable to get in.
I’ve emailed Atomic Gamer.

Starting at about 2:20 am ET today the Civfanatics Forum experiences a Database problem that disables posting. We are working on it. Stay tuned for updates.
Edit1 (12:00 PM ET): As of about 12:00 pm the forum is back up for posting. We are still experiencing some glitches though, so this may not be the last outage today. We are sorry for any inconvenience. Stay tuned for any updates
EDIT2 (1:40PM ET): It looks like the problem was caused by the posts table in the database exceeded 4 GB, which is the MySQL limit for the current OS type. A complete solution for the problem may require a new OS installation on the database server that allows bigger limit. Our host Atomic Gamer is looking for a workaround to the problem. They may need to bring down the server from time to time. Please continue to check this space for updates.
I have received reports that some old posts are missing, and that new posts created after the problem started didn’t appear. We do have a full backup of the database from 2 weeks ago, so we may be able to retrieve the missing old posts if necessary. For new posts/thread posted after the problem, I don’t think those can be retrieved and we will delete the empty threads. Sorry for the inconvenence. — TF
EDIT3 (2:50 PM ET): Forum is back online. Thanks for your patience.

The site was down for about 4 hours today, from 5:37 PM ET to 9:37 PM ET.
Our host Atomic Gamer was creating an index on the server which should help with the forum performance. However, the database became corrupt for some reason and they had to repair it.
Looks like everything is working again now…
Sorry for the downtime and inconvenience!
